Paper Beads
Paper beads/flanges create reinforcement for drywall seams and edges, preventing cracking. They also create sharp, clean lines at drywall corners. Paper beads bond well to metal and can even be sanded as you are preparing the wall for painting. They are also compatible with joint compound/wet plaster.
When choosing the paper beads to supply, we go for those made carbon neutral (VERs) using 100% renewable energy, 3rd party certified ISO 14001 EMS (Environmental Management System), and even Forest Stewardship Council chain-of-custody standards.
Note that you will get a better bond if you wet the paper first since the water will cause greater adhesion. Water also reduces wrinkles on the paper. Note that you need not soak the paper bead – dampening it is good enough. Always ensure that the beads that intersect at corners align perfectly.
Paper beads are not expensive at around $2 compared to standard metal corners that cost around $3 for an 8-ft. length. Paper is also easier to handle and cut compared to metal beads.
