Waterproofing & Sealing Products

Waterproofing and sealing products keep your house dry from the basement to the roof. Common material used for this include:

  • Penetrating sealers

They include silanes, silicates, siloxanes and siliconates. These are sealers that penetrate the wall or floor and cause a chemical reaction forming a shield against moisture. They are mainly used in exterior surfaces that are subject to corrosion.

  • Acrylics

Acrylics are available in water based and solvent formulations. They are used in both exterior and interior walls. Many people prefer them because of the easy applications and the aesthetics they bring about. After application the sealant dries within an hour. They form a thin film on the concrete surface enhancing the beauty of the concrete.

  • Polyurethanes

Polyurethanes are not prone to stains and this makes them suitable for areas with high traffic. When applying a polyurethane sealant ensure that there is no water on the surface.

  • Epoxies

Epoxies are used internally since they can change color when exposed to UV light.

  • Cementitious waterproofing

This is the most common waterproofing method. Cementitious products are normally used in internal wet areas. This is because the products are rigid and semi flexible and thus are affected by sunlight and weathering. Common applications of cementitious waterproofing include sewage treatment plants, dams, water treatment plants, bridges, marine cargo ports, parking lots and tunnels.

  • Liquid waterproofing membrane

A liquid membrane is a thin coat that is applied to the surface with a spray or roller. It is more flexible compared to the cementitious waterproofing systems.
