Drywall Tape
At Bernardi Building Supply, we carry a wide selection of drywall joint tape, including aluminum foil tape, fiberglass drywall tape and more from top North American construction product manufacturers.
Drywall tape is used to cover drywall seams. The rugged paper tape is not self-stick – it relied on drywall joint compound for support. The drywall tape we carry is very durable and water- and tear-resistant. The surface of drywall tape is intentionally rough for maximum adhesion once the drywall joint compound is applied.
Note there are self-adhesive tapes in the market such as fiberglass tape, but they are difficult to hide with compound, leaving your wall looking and feeling rough. The moisture in self-adhesive tapes can also make the adhesive to release.
To apply the tape, the area to be repaired or seam has to be covered with the joint compound, taking care not to leave dry spots. The tape is then applied over it using a taping knife.
